Yesterday we ventured out to see the rodeo and also Lady Antebellum. Since we are fairly new to town, we are still learning all about Southern living. We've been to the rodeo 2 times before this, but those trips were 'learning' trips. We didn't know all of the things that they have there. There's rides (think large state fair rides up north), junk food alley, barns full of animals, looking at the large farm equipment, and then the SHOPPING! OH THE SHOPPING!!!! We found the shopping this year!
What can I say, we have an aspiring model on our hands!
He was so happy, he wanted me to take his picture by every tractor at the place.
We started out walking around looking at all of the animials and petting the big cows while also watching them get their baths. Then moved on to the corndogs, beer, and of course turkey legs!
The turkey leg was bigger than their head!
And they LOVED every bite of it.
I NEVER would have dreamed that my kids would like turkey legs as much as they do.
After we ate a whole lot of food, we ventured into one of the large buildings and OH THE SHOPPING! Have I mentioned the shopping that we found? It was heaven. There was evertything that you could have wanted in Texas. There was furnature, blingy belts, blingy jeans, food, JEWERLY, and our prize treasure that we stumbled upon...rugs. Yeah, you read right, rugs. We would have never thoguht that we'd have found a rug for our living room at the rodeo. But we found a great rug at a wonderful price. So, we "bought" it, and I use that term loosely since we still haven't paid for it as of tonight. You see, the man only accepted cash or check and seeing as how we had neither, he let us take it home and bring in the moola Monday. Trusting guy, but we will NOT break his trust. He rolled it up and kept it to the side for us and then it was time to move into the arena to watch the rodeo and concert. We loved the rodeo part, but have trouble watching them wrestle the calves to the ground, that part just looks a little rough on the calves.
There was grand parading of horses, singing, bare back horse bucking, calf wresting, calf tag team tying, calf roping, saddle bucking, bull riding (obiously I know a lot about rodeos and the technical terms), and our favorite...mutton bustin'! We've decided that next year Mr. Man is going to do the mutton bustin'.
Then, it was time for Lady Antebellum to take the stage...that is after they built it in the middle of the arena. It was a Great concert. They played all of their popular songs and we got to be the first to hear one of their brand new songs on their new album. Just ask Mr. Man how great the concert was and all he'll be able to tell you is what a great nap he was able to take :)
When the show was over we woke up Mr. Man and headed back outside to eat more food, like we really needed more food. After we had sufficiantly stuffed our bellies until they could no longer hold any more food, we waddled back to the vendor that had our rugs and lugged them back to the car and headed home to put the new rug down.
I'll leave you with a glimpse of our "new" living room. I'm going to look for some new pillows for the couch this week and then I think I'll be done redecorating my living room.
